Year 7

Starting secondary school is an exciting and important part of the educational journey, so we try to give you as much information as possible to ensure a smooth transition. We invite local primary schools to join us for a range of activities to introduce them to secondary school life and offer them opportunities they may not otherwise experience.

Year 6 students join us for our transition week before they start in September. This helps prepare them for the change at secondary education.

We aim to make the start of each child’s journey new journey as easy as possible and hope that every student goes on to remember their time at the Academy with fondness.

Congratulations to all students who have gained a place at The Ockendon Academy for September 2019.

A letter has been sent to all parents/carers informing you of a transition evening that is being held on Wednesday 19th June 2019. Please arrive in time for a 5.00pm start.

You will receive all information and information packs on the transition evening.

We are looking forward to meeting you.

Transition Week

Monday 1st – Friday 5th July 2019

We are looking forward to welcoming your child on Monday 1st July. You should arrive with your son/daughter at 9:00am and enter the school through the Sixth Form entrance, where your child will be dropped off and staff will be available to answer any questions you might have.

For the first day only, please collect your child from the school gates at 2:50pm. If you are allowing you child to walk home without being collected, please write a note. Please do not arrive before 2:50pm as other students from the academy will be leaving at 2:40pm.

The rest of the week starts at 8:30am; please drop off your son/daughter outside the academy gate and collect them from the same place at the end of the day at 2:40pm. I would like to remind our new parents that there is no parking on school premises or the zigzag line outside our school and we would also ask you not to block our neighbours’ drives when waiting.
