At The Ockendon Academy, we believe in providing opportunities for our students to achieve the best they can in all they do. Our curriculum is built on a number of principles:
* A drive for progress – curriculum and subject choices need to provide students with the best chances to make progress across all their subjects. This is particularly important when choosing options subjects
* An ACE curriculum – in order for students to make progress, they need to feel they can achieve, they need to be committed to their own learning and they need to feel engaged and motivated. Providing an ACE curriculum allows students to develop the ownership and personal drive to want to do well.
* Individual and personalised learning – the curriculum needs to adapt to the student. With this in mind, we offer a wide range of subjects for students to study in years 7 and 8, including all areas of technology and the Arts. At GCSE level, students can choose from a variety of options subjects, with up to four options choices (one of which must be a language).
