Library & ICT
Learning Resources Centre
The Ockendon Academy’s LRC (Learning Resource Centre) is an up-to-date School Library fully equipped with modern up-to-date computers, connected to the School Network.
The LRC is open to students throughout the school day, during morning and afternoon breaks as well as after school. The LRC is used frequently during lessons and in Year 7 students receive a lesson to help them find their way around the Library and the way that books are filed using the Melvil Dewey Decimal Classification system (used in the majority of public libraries).
The LRC is a fun place to be, bordering the quadrangle, where students can sit and read, work or use computers under the watchful eyes of birds in the large-scale avery (including chickens and ducks) and fish in the pond.
Information Technology
The school is exceptionally well equipped with computers. The state of the art rooms are an important part of our status as a Specialist Mathematics and Computing College and are a ‘must see’ for any visitor to the school. It is an area which the school is keen to develop even further in the future.
Internet Access
The school has fully filtered Internet access to ensure safe, appropriate use of this invaluable resource. All students and parents have to sign an acceptable user document and abide by it. Students have access during lessons, break times and after school.
