Results of Our Ofsted Inspection 2015
The Ockendon Academy and Studio School were inspected by Her Majesty’s Inspector of Schools – Ofsted – in September.
The inspection found the Academy’s “effectiveness of leadership and management in respect to the welfare and safeguarding of students” meets requirements and the support it provides for students “ranges from broad and clear information and guidance about careers and future education to individual counselling sessions”.
Ofsted’s report continues: “Leaders have deliberately built a specialist team of support staff which includes a parental liaison officer, trained counsellors and a social worker, employed solely by the Academy.”
Head teacher Mrs Barbara King said: “We are delighted that HMI judged we comply fully with all of the safeguarding requirements”.
“The very positive report highlighted many areas of strength in both the Academy and Studio School and also noted ‘The Academy places student welfare at the centre of all that it does’.”
The Academy’s leadership team continually works closely with local authority personnel, maintaining close links and communication. We would like to echo what the report says about the significant support we have had and continue to receive from the council.
Mrs King added: “The report reinforces our knowledge that our safeguarding procedures are a strength and at the heart of all we do. It is a very positive endorsement of this belief.”
