CHANGES TO ASSESSMENT AND REPORTING TO PARENTS:
The Ockendon Academy is an ambitious, challenging and creative place to learn and work. Ofsted graded us as ‘good with outstanding features’ recognising our improved and consistently high standards of behaviour, attendance and punctuality as well as the academic success. Our students both achieve and enjoy their time at The Academy. We are committed and focussed on providing the highest quality learning and working activities and experiences so that we can be the best that we can be today, tomorrow and in the future.
I am really excited about the future of The Ockendon Academy and our ambition to have even better results and improved facilities. We are always looking forward, especially with our Studio School and Sixth Form as a school within an Academy. Please join us and share that ambition for the future.
Students had fun planting the car that they had painted together in Little Belhus. Well done to everyone involved!
We would like to congratulate our students and thank parents and carers for joining us at this year’s Awards Afternoon.
NOTICE FOR ALL STUDENTS:
Please ensure that you have sufficient water, sun cream and a sun hat for your P.E. lessons throughout the high temperatures this week.
Catering arrangements from September 2015
With effect from 7th September 2015 all payments made by students for catering will be credited in full to the student’s Smart card upon receipt. Payments can be made at any break time or before school at the catering tills and, as now, can be made by cash or cheque.
Students should therefore ensure that they bring their Smart card to the academy every day. If your child does not have a card, they should advise a member of the catering team.
This new arrangement will assist considerably with the smooth running of the catering service for our students.

The Ockendon Academy and Studio School has recently been visited by a SGS Customer Service Excellence assessor. We are pleased to announce that the ‘Award of the Customer Service Excellence Standard has been recommended’ and maintained with no recommendation for improvement.
‘Following the assessment, The Ockendon Academy was found to have a deep understanding of, and commitment to, Customer Service Excellence. The commitment was displayed from Senior Management levels through to operations and front line staff.’
When being interviewed, students expressed their enthusiasm and remain to be happy with their schooling. Extra classrooms within the Studio School are allowing the students’ outcomes to be enhanced as the teaching of Maths and Science are being brought together.
With the ‘demise of Connexions’, we have employed ‘two career professionals’ to support and advise students. We are always looking for innovative ideas and ways to enrich our students. ‘Studio 7 is one such idea which offers an enrichment programme to enhance the school day compromising of extended programmes for learning and practical activities for students and the community’. We will also be looking at how to expand our facilities, ‘offer attractive amenities’ and develop the Academy to the wider community.
Students’ knowledge of customer service has ‘grown since last year’ and will continue to grow. We would like to thank SGS Customer Service Excellence for, once again, recommending us.
